Windsor Town Manager Linda Kelly announced her intention to leave Town employment and retire as of August 3, 2017. Kelly has been Town Manager in Windsor since December 2012, and has served in city government capacities in California for 27 years, over 11 of those years as a city manager, including City Manager of Sonoma and Town Manager of Fairfax.
Kelly reflected, “It has been a true pleasure to work here in Windsor because the Town has done so many things right, including maintaining reserves throughout the recession, a conservative approach to pensions, and providing reliable infrastructure. All of this only is possible through the outstanding support of the Town Council, and the high caliber and talent of our staff team. Windsor is an organization always striving to be the best. The pride in our work, skill base and experience of staff truly makes our organization stand out and provides an environment of excellence in which to work.”
Mayor Fudge noted, “The Town of Windsor will really miss Linda Kelly. She has been an impeccable, ethical and motivational city manager, and a true leader among our staff. Linda has left a very positive mark on Windsor and we truly wish her the best as she moves her life into different directions.”
Kelly noted some of the highlights of her time in Windsor include the Town being the first city to join Sonoma Clean Power, working with the developers of Bell Village and the new Holiday Inn to complete their projects, the Town’s General Plan Update process and the Civic Center Visioning Plan, working with Russian River Brewing Company on their plans to open a new brewery in Windsor, and the expanded use of social media and community outreach. She stated that “Windsor continues to grow to meet its full potential, enabling the quality of life for all who live, work and visit here to be that much more enriched.”
Kelly added, “This has been a time of great planning for the future. The Town is in an excellent place to further implement its plans.”
Kelly noted that her husband retired two years ago and she looks forward to pursuing many interests with him including more time with their youngest child, along with other pursuits.
The Town Council will meet in closed session to discuss recruitment of a new Town Manager.
