June 1: Coffee with a Cop
Join members of the Windsor Police Department on Wednesday, June 1, for “Coffee with a Cop” at Starbucks, 9234 Old Redwood Highway. The event, which will be held from 7:30-9:30 AM, is an opportunity to sit down with deputies and ask them questions and share what’s on your mind.
The mission of Coffee with a Cop, a national initiative, is to break down the barriers between police officers and the community members they serve. For more information, email Charity.Koch@sonoma-county.org.
June 2: Raising of Pride Flag
For the second year in a row, the Town will raise the multi-hued Pride Flag to recognize June as “Pride Month.” This brief event will take place at 9 AM on Thursday, June 2, at the flagpole near the corner of Old Redwood Highway and Joe Rodota Way.
The public is invited to join local officials, Town staff, and members of the Windsor Parks & Recreation Foundation (People4Parks) as they raise the flag to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history.
And mark your calendars for the Windsor Pride Festival, which will take place on Saturday, June 25, on the Town Green. It will be a day of live music, food, beer and wine, and kids’ activities. People4Parks is organizing the event and the Town of Windsor is a partner.

In our current drought crisis and as land and ocean temperatures continue to increase due to climate change, recycled water will become an increasingly necessary resource.
Please take our survey on recycled water, which is available in both English and Spanish: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/windsorrecycledwater. Your answers will help us develop educational materials to better inform you of this resource. Thank you.

Discussion of Fee Increases for Well Owners
If you’re a well owner in Windsor, you may be interested in a discussion of fee increases at a June 9 board of directors meeting of the Santa Rosa Plain Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA). The Town of Windsor is one of the GSA’s 10 member agencies, which also includes the County of Sonoma and the City of Santa Rosa.
A consultant recommended that the GSA keep the current fee method of having all groundwater well users pay into the GSA, but to increase the fees starting this July. The rates will vary depending on your type of well and how much water you use, but for a rural residential owner, that may likely be about $20 annually. If you’d like to learn more, go here. The GSA will post the rate and fee study soon.
Celebrating Special Olympics
The Windsor Police Department helped out at the recent Special Olympics Northern California event at Windsor High School. There were big smiles all around and ribbons and medals were given to the athletes. It was a day to celebrate their hard work and fantastic achievements!
Windsor Police and Becoming Independent
A BIG thank you to Becoming Independent for inviting the Windsor Police Department and Sonoma Sheriff to a meet and greet and for recognizing National Police Week, May 15-21.
Becoming Independent is a Santa Rosa-based organization that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live meaningful and productive lives. Deputies met a great group of individuals and fielded a lot of great questions!
